Trepassey Harbour is one of the most protected places in Newfoundland to enjoy sea-kayaking. If you enjoy other self propelled activities like wind surfing, paddle boarding, and kite surfing Biscay Bay has the ideal body of water and wind on most days for these activities. On one side of the highway you have the wide open ocean that surfers flock to after a big storm has hit. On the other you have an ocean fed large pond that is shallow enough to make swimming for the youngsters safe (and not as cold!).
Remember though, although kayaking can be a lot of fun, being out on the water can be dangerous. If your kayak capsizes you may become injured and need first aid. For this reason it is recommended that you travel with someone who has received Ottawa Cpr Training. Having someone who is able to perform CPR with you can give you peace of mind that if anything does go wrong, help is at hand.
It also offers a great spot for wind/kite surfing. If power boating is your preference, there is easy access to the harbour for your boat or jet ski as well.
When you come stay with us don’t forget to bring along some of your favorite water toys, and enjoy a day on the water.
**We do have kayak rentals available at the Inn, as well as life jackets. Kayak rentals are $20/hour, or $40 for the day. Grab a picnic lunch to go from our restaurant and you can have a wonderful day exploring Trepassey via the sea.
