Whale Watching is one of the most exciting things to do during the summer in Newfoundland. This experience is for the lucky folks that just happen to be in the right place at the right time. The right time is when the whales are hungry. The right place is St. Vincent’s beach. Viewing these giants of the sea, from the shoreline no less, is a sight that will leave you in awe. The whales, including species such as Minke and Humpbacks, love this place so much that they return every June/July for a feed. While they are feasting on the capelin — small sardine like fish — you will soak in the sights and memories will be made. It’s a 20 minute scenic road trip from the Edge of the Avalon Inn to the quaint and friendly community of St. Vincent’s. The magic of this adventure is that you must be ready to go at a moment’s notice. We will have a whale watch in effect so you will be the first to know when they have been spotted. Just be sure to check our Facebook page regularly. We offer no guarantees, other than if you are lucky to catch the whale show, it will be a memory that will last a lifetime. This is another adventure that begs for a picnic lunch to take along on your road trip. We can do that for you and supply a blanket if you wish. Just let our staff know at the restaurant.
